Preparing for an adult ADHD conversation
Explain the impact in your own words.
By the MomiCare editorial team

At a glance
Explain the impact in your own words.
Describe the impact
If attention or organisation difficulties affect your life, a GP can discuss support and whether a specialist assessment is appropriate. A useful note describes the impact at home, work, study or in relationships.
Share your history and what helps
Include what you remember from childhood and which strategies already help. Women’s difficulties may have been less readily recognised. You can bring someone you trust, or ask for written information and time to process it.
Ask about support now
Choose one change that would help now, such as instructions in writing or a quieter workspace. Ask about support while waiting and the next step after the appointment. These notes do not diagnose ADHD.
